Friendship Breeds Art

It just so happens that I have a best friend who doubles as the hat world's reigning Goddess Teressa Foglia, with her partner in all things Tyler Hayes sitting at her immediate. When Teressa mentioned she needed a sculpture for their Malibu shop, I jumped at the opportunity. Anything to be surrounded by her loving, creative energy. And another excuse to shop her masterful hats
- as if I needed one.

Pulling from the bounty that is the SoCal landscape, I got to work. Collecting and curating carefully hand selected, native foraged materials.
Fellow artist, bestie, and life long maker, Natasha blesses the landscape by offering sacred Tobacco, a Native ritual thanking the land for their offerings.
For me the creative process is a very fluid almost meditative space.  Working with these foraged materials one must listen, they speak to you telling you what they are now in their new form. What was once a humble bundle of brush grass is now the base for an evocative foraged sculpture.

This piece embodies so many important messages of our time -re-purpose, recycle, use what you have. Appreciating these natural materials and Mother Earths offerings no matter how seemingly disposable. These sculptures are meant to age in place, ever changing and evolving in their existence.

The moral of the story? Find friends who push you to push your self, I’m addicted to making these now. And adore collaborating with my clients and friends to elevate their homes, businesses, table scapes, holiday decor you name it,  in a unique and responsible way.
